TOMS George

Mr. George Toms was a native of New South Wales and came to the Gnowangerup district about 1926. He was at that time head mechanic with Wesfarmers who then handled Case tractors.
He married Miss Pat Timms in 1928 and on the death of H.O. Timms in 1942, took over the management of the estate.
George, in his younger days, was a well known rifle club man and in later years was a keen member of both the local golf and bowling clubs.
Pat, the eldest daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. H.O. Timms, lived in Gnowangerup for seventy one years.
The first four years of her life were spent on a station which was owned by her father.
She, with her parents, moved to Gnowangerup in 1908 and settled at "Glengarry."

There Pat learned to drive a Model T Ford at the very early age of about eleven or twelve years and would drive anywhere.
In 1938 Telyarup was sold and the family moved to "Moyallen."
After the death of her father, her husband, George Toms, managed "Moyallen" until his death.
Pat then bought a house in town and lived there until her death.
She loved to be outdoors. All her life she was a great help on the farm and she was an expert horsewoman.
She loved the north west and as often as possible she would holiday there with her family.
